The annual tradition continues. I compile a list of the books that I have read and highlight my favourites. I use GoodReads.com to keep track of my reading. I read a total of 68 books this past year. That is more than I read last year so that is a fun acheivement. The reason I read so many books is that I read lots of short mysteries. Some paper books and some ebooks. I read twenty three Agatha Christie books (Miss Marple and Inspector Poirot books).
I also discovered a "new to me" fiction series - Mrs. Pollifax. She is a senior citizen who is bored with her life and starts working for the CIA and goes to various countries undercover. The audio book versions are especially fun.
My top two books, because they stuck with me for so long, are Light Between Oceans and Fever. I listened to both of these books. Audiobooks are great for me since I have a tendency to read too fast and skip things. Audiobooks allow me to really get the most out of a book.
Light Between Oceans
Light Between Oceans is fictional account of a young couple who live on an island off the coast of Australia. After multiple miscarriages, a boat washes up that contains a live baby along with a dead body. The choice they make to keep the baby and pass it off as their own has desvastating consequences.
Fever
Fever by Mary Beth Keane is historical fiction. A very well written account of Typhoid Mary (Mary Mallon) including the three years she spent in isolation on North Brother Island. This was a fascinating story of her life.
Deep Down Dark
This is a non-fiction book. Hector Tobar interviewed the 33 men who were trapped in the Chilean mine in August 2010 and tells their stories. I learned a lot from this book and it was inspiring.
Choosing to See.
This is a memoir of sorts by Mary Beth Chapman. The Chapmans lost their daughter Maria in a tragic car accident in 2008. Quite honest and not sugary sweet. Hard to put down once I started reading it.
Fierce Convictions
I had never heard of Hannah More before I read this book. She is a fascinating woman who helped to end the slave trade in Great Britain. A contemporary of William Wilberforce.
Another book that I enjoyed in 2015 was The Girl on the Train.
Girl on the Train is fiction. A thriller. A page turner.
What do I plan to read in 2016? Well, I have a copy of All the Light We Cannot See on my shelf so I should really crack that one open!

I wish I were a better audiobook listener! I'm a visual learner, so it's hard for me to not mess a lot when I listen only.
I started reading Choosing to See a few days ago and got through the introduction by Beth Moore before I got distracted. I do want to read it.
Several of yours sound very good.
I read All the Light We Cannot See last year and chose it as a favorite of the year.
Choosing to See is a good book. Sad but inspiring, too. And Ioved Fierce Convictions. I think I'd Like to read Deep Down Dark.
I really liked The Light Between Oceans. Sad cautionary tale. I'm putting Fever on my tbr list. I read another book of the Chilean miners and the movie 33 is playing right now in our city so I'd like to go see it. Happy reading in 2016!
