Celebrating My Sweetie!

Today is my hubby's birthday! He turns the big 4-0.

Here are some fun facts about him.

He is the youngest of four brothers.

He spent 10 years in England - from age 8 to age 18.

He loves Pike Place blend drip coffee at Starbucks. Black.

He is younger than me. :)

He loves his work.

He is a fantastic father to our two boys.

He makes me laugh every day.

211. Lilacs, even though sadly my own lilac bush won't bloom this year!

215. My oldest son's love of all animals, even slugs! He threw out the egg shells I was saving to use as slug repellent to put around some plants. Frustrating and yet so sweet.

Ruffles & Rust May 2012

After months of anticipation, the day for Ruffles and Rust finally arrived. I managed to convince three friends (Linda, Rene B, and Denise) to come along and they also brought friends. I wish I could get free admission as a referral bonus!

This blue and red is a great combination. That is, if I liked to decorate with red, which I don't. :)

Bird pillowcases - so cute!

A fun idea for Scrabble letters.

This gorgeous bouquet and the lilacs below were at Deb's booth,

 aka Garden Party. She is a local vendor.

I love this idea for an old chair and succulents. Anyone have a broken chair for me?

So many great displays.

This is the one that got away. So sad. :(

I debated buying this table but was a little scared by the price ($80). As soon as I finished taking this photo, the vendor moved it to the holds area which meant that it had already been purchased. I love the shelf underneath. It is hard to tell from the photo but it is a square shape. 

Wouldn't it have looked great in my blue and white living room?? Pout, pout.

I love garlands! 

These bunnies were too cute!

I purchased a picket fence shelf from this vendor.

Here's a fun idea for an old piano stool (which I have!). 

The seat is padded and recovered in some beautiful vintage fabric!

This cool light was made by Bride on a Bike.

I loved this banner (also by Bride on a Bike) made from lace, burlap and strips of cotton. It was pricey but the amount of labour required for this and finding the right fabric would be daunting, if I was making it myself.

The coolest stuff (like this basket) was in the hold section aka, things that were already purchased.

Succulents in a rusty tool box.

So cool! Air plants displayed in thermoses.

Another creative display.

This was so cool but so expensive! A silver sugar pot made into a wind chime.

I wonder if I could make this?

I know you want to see what I brought home with me. 

My favourite find was a candle chandelier for nineteen dollars

complete with candles!! I plan to put in the gazebo.

and this picket fence shelf.

  

The shelf doesn't fit where I hoped it would in my house but I think I'll put it outside on our covered porch.

It was hard to choose one photo this week. 

I chaperoned a low tide beach walk with my son's third grade class 

and my youngest son had a concert and art fair at school. 

Here are two moments from this past week.

My oldest son trying to get a barnacle to move. We did get lots of them to move by waving a finger over top of them. Such a cool trick! Who knew they were alive in there!

So sweet. I wore it with pride.
