An outing to Jetty Island

I've now done another thing on my Puget Sound bucket list - a visit to Jetty Island. We went this past Monday, July 30th.

The tide was low when we arrived and came in gradually. The water was very shallow and actually warm! Here is low tide:

Here is the tide coming in:

It was chilly when we arrived but my kids didn't care - they could run back and forth to the water,

dig in the sand,

look for wild animals in the sand bars,

play with the seaweed,

or just get very very wet!
check out that view!

Even on a cloudy cool day, this is a popular place but not so much that you can't spread out. It did warm up in the afternoon. Three other moms and their kids (in our group) left at 12:45 pm but my friend Andrea and I stayed on the island until 2:45 pm. We were happy that we stayed longer to get the warmth and sunshine. Our typical weather these days is cloudy mornings and sunny afternoons.

The short boat ride (from the port of Everett) was free with donations suggested. It only hold 60 people with an upper deck.

There is a website with more information. I highly recommend visiting Jetty Island. If you have a group of more than 8 you can make reservations, which we did.Pin It
