Spring Blossoms

I have been walking almost every day during our quarantine. I find it very helpful to stay active, breathe in fresh air, and get away from the news. On the weekends we often drive to a park and walk as a family. During the week, I will walk with C and/or J and we stay closer to home. I'm so thankful that the University of Washington Arboretum has remained open. Many parks are closed right now. It is sad to see playground equipment taped off but I understand why they are off limits. I think it would be hard to explain that to a young child.

I love the Arboretum. It is a huge park. I looked up and found out that is has 230 acres! A thought we hadn't been there very many times. Funny! We used to go quite frequently when we lived in Seattle. I have photos taken there on Mothers Day in 2005 when I was pregnant with C, and I posed with A. We went there many times with GrandDad as he enjoyed visiting it.

There is a large collection of hellebores in the first area we explored. They bloom very early.

Most magnolia trees are just starting to blossom. We did find one in full bloom, though.

We spotted this HUGE cherry tree. The photo doesn't really capture how big it is.

I hope to return in about a month when even more blossoms will be out. Perhaps around Mothers Day.

Spring Blossoms

The cherry blossoms at the University of Washington campus are something that I had long wanted to take in. We hoped to go there on my birthday but that day was rainy and the blossoms weren't completely out. We found some time on Saturday April 1st.

We weren't the only ones there. That's an understatement. The place was packed! The funny thing was that the majority of the people were Indian or Asian.

With so many people there it had the atmosphere of a festival. Lots of people dressed up to take family photos. My son climbed up a tree. Later we saw a sign that said "don't climb the trees." Oops.

We found this beautiful magnolia tree at UW with HUGE blossoms -  the largest I've ever seen.
